EVENT: In 2010, Canada is host to the Olympic games, the G-20 and the G-8. At the same time, Canadian forces are in Afghanistan and in other countries in an effort to bring stability and democracy. Closer to home, Canadian law enforcement agencies and frontline border officers are working in close collaboration with the United States to ensure that our shared border is open for legitimate trade and travel and closed to terrorists. Noting that a threat to the United States is a threat to Canada, Ambassador Doer will offer a Canadian perspective on emerging security challenges and the need for evergreen policy developments.

BACKGROUND:
HSPI's Ambassadors Roundtable Series is designed to provide Ambassadors to the United States and their key diplomatic staff with a forum to discuss current and future counterterrorism and counterinsurgency efforts on a regional or country-specific basis. In an effort to draw upon various insights and experiences, the Ambassadors Roundtable Series builds upon and institutionalizes efforts over the past few years to engage in a dialogue with members of the international community, policy makers, and practitioners.
