CHESHIRE etiquette guru Diana Mather has made the county’s Claire House Children’s Hospice Summer Garden Cocktail Party an even more un-missable event by providing a unique must do and don’ts guide for guests.
Charity supporters will be given their own copy of Diana’s top tips for a successful cocktail party when they arrive for the annual event in the sumptuous Wolf Room, part of the Duke and Duchess of Westminster’
Diana, Managing Director of etiquette training company Public Image had intended to attend the hugely important fund raising event that attracts up to 140 guests but will be overseas on business.
“I’m so disappointed at not being able to attend but thought I would put together a simple guide for guests because the cocktail party has very much come back in vogue since the Recession,” she said.
“Cocktail parties were very much part of the social scene until recent years. Then the Credit Crunch came along and people cut back on entertaining in hotels and restaurants because of the expense.
“Then people realised they could entertain at home relatively inexpensively and suddenly every wanted to organise cocktail parties for friends and colleagues. That’s when we started being asked for advice from those who had no experience of this type of socialising,”
“I had intended to give a little talk about cocktail party etiquette at the Claire House event but sadly business commitments mean I can’t be at this wonderful social gathering. So I’ve put together a little at-a-glance guide for guests to take away.”
Claire House fundraiser Laura Breen said: “The Summer Garden Cocktail Party is a lovely occasion and is a very important part of our fund-raising programme and we are delighted that the Duke and Duchess have given us their permission to use their beautiful estate. In fact we are the Duchess’s chosen charity for this year.
“Diana’s input is really welcome and her guide will be helpful for any would-be cocktail party host or hostess. But I would advise anybody wishing to join us for the event to book early as places will be in great demand.”
