Online Magazines On Metal Detecting

Believe it or not, there are many on-line and offline magazines that explore the subject of metal detection.

May 20, 2010 - PRLog -- One such online magazine is American Digger.  This magazine was created back in 2004 by those people who sincerely love the hobby that is metal detection.

Xaviera Arata Editor of the  Metal Detector Reviews  website -- http://www.MetalDetectorReviews.me -- pointed out;

“…Currently, American Digger magazine is published two times a month in the United States, and their very first issue was launched in the year 2005, Jan-Feb…” Added Xaviera Arata

The mission of American Digger is in the promotion of responsibly excavating and collecting all and any artifacts that are related to the country of America.

American Digger also opposes strongly any illegal means that involves the wanton and reckless - if not careless - recovery and destruction of artifacts.  The magazine believes that it is everyone's responsibility to dig in a responsible and ethical manner.

Another online magazine is Western & Eastern Treasures.  This magazine has a slew of relevant articles that speak of how, where and when to metal detect.

One such article that the latest August 2006 issue of Western and Eastern Treasures features is about a house on top of a hill in Vermont that seemed to be a perfect place to conduct metal detection.

The house is built around the year 1900.  During the 1930's, the house was then converted into a hospital.  Currently, it is now used as an apartment with various tenants.

The writer in Western and Eastern Treasures magazine then asked the property's landlady if they would be provided permission to do some metal detecting in the area.  Be aware though that emphasis was given that there would be little or no signs of any detecting done.

The writer also advises that an additional gift, such as a sincere apple pie or banana cream pie could do a lot in getting a property owner to say "yes" to your request.

This article in Western and Eastern Treasures magazine also reveals how the metal detecting was done and the valuable coins un-earthed in the find, such as a ten cent silver Wheat coin, among others.

The author of the article also discovered a Roosevelt 1960 dime, a few pennies, and a quarter from the year 1894, dropped probably a hundred years ago.

The writer of the magazine article also warns of distractions, such as friendly neighbors sincerely inquiring the status of the metal detecting adventure and find.

“…All in all, metal detecting as told and described in magazines is fairly accurate and is enough to further inspire one to continue and cherish the hobby…” Added Xaviera Arata
