May 19, 2010 - PRLog -- Washington, D.C, May 19, 2010 – For the first time, Italian Winery Cantina Novelli will be represented at the International Wine, Spirits, and Beer Event at the National Restaurant Association Show in Chicago. Cantina Novelli will promote the rediscovery and restoration of native Umbrian vines, and their marriage of tradition and innovation, corked in every bottle. Cantina Novelli recently announced their entry into the U.S Market to share tastes of Umbria with American wine consumers – novice and experts alike. From May 22nd through the 24th come treat your palate to the fine wines of Cantina Novelli at booth #8315.

Cantina Novelli will be showcasing five of the their finest wines with influential hospitality and food and beverage tastemakers at the country’s largest alcoholic beverage forum. Available for sampling, the Montefalco Sagrantino DOCG, which is made of 100 percent Sagrantino grapes, one of the few DOCGs in Italy that has been cultivated in more than 400 years; the Montefalco Rosso DOC, a blend of the Sangiovese, Sagrantino, Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon grapes; the Trebbiano Spoletino IGT, made of 100 percent Spoletino grapes, a historic white grape varietal indigenous to Umbria that Cantina Novelli recently rediscovered through an extensive research project with the University of Milan; the Rosso Cube, made from a symphonic blend of the Sangiovese, Ciliegiolo, and  Canaiolo grapes; and the Bianco Cube, a medley of the Trebbiano Spoletino, Grechetto and Pecorino grapes.

Seeking to become a true ambassador to its area of origin, Cantina Novelli will have representatives on site sharing information about Umbria’s rich history while you sip your sampled wines. As Italy's smallest region, Umbria lies in the shadow of its more famous neighbor, Tuscany; ironically, the word Umbria is phonetic with the Italian word ombra, which directly translated means shadow.

We look forward to hosting you, and shedding light on Cantina Novelli Wine’s, at booth #8315 this coming May 22nd to the 24th at the International Wine, Spirits, and Beer event.

Cantina Novelli, a subsidiary of Gruppo Novelli, has held a prominent role in the food industry over the last 40 years. The company is owned by one of the largest and most influential families in Umbria, with total sales proceeds of 120 million Euros. With family-owned land in Montefalco and Spoleto, Stefano Novelli, formerly the financial director of the company, married his love of wine with his love of his homeland to achieve “the winery of reference in Umbria.” Cantina Novelli produces Montefalco Sagratino, Montefalco Rosso, Trebbiano Spoletino, and a blend of three autochthonous reds: Rossocube (Sangiovese, Ciliegiolo and Cannaiolo) and whites: Biancocube (Grechetto, Trebbiano Spoletino and Pecorino). In addition, Cantina Novelli launched a sparkling line in pioneering collaboration with France, producing Sagrantino Rosè de Noir and Trebbiano Spoletino Blanc de Blanc, both made in the traditional method.
