Led by Cynthia Hussey, the original owner and creator of Velvet Eyewear, a sunglass brand she created and sold in 2003.  Said Hussey, “Velvet is special. My move to New York was strategic in my plan to hopefully buy Velvet back and introduce it to the fashion Sunglass and Eyewear markets. When I first moved to New York City in 2007, the economy was flying high, deals were being made, and due to the market conditions of that time, I was unsuccessful in making a deal. I then instinctively created Eye Studio and started focusing on developing high-end private label Sunglass programs primarily for the fashion industry and we have been very successful, but we still lacked a house brand to balance the company.  Velvet Eyewear remained on my mind, and I made another attempt to secure the Velvet marks and this time, the timing was right for both K-2 and Eye Studio.   Three years after my BIG move and finally we have the Velvet Eyewear brand. The economic conditions are favorable for this category, particularly with the Dollar’s strength against the Euro. I can’t think of a better scenario for success in these markets. Timing is everything!”  Velvet Eyewear will be developed on the East Coast this time around, at the Eye Studio’s design facility in New York.

Eye Studio, LLC is a designer, developer, and distributor of quality, Italian manufactured, sunglasses and eyewear. They produce for various fashion, surf, and optical companies in the United States and Canada.
