BlueSquare Data is looking for an existing data centre facility that can be refitted to bring it in line with the company’s existing tier 3 and 4 sites. The search will focus on locations in the south-east of England, outside of the M25, in order to take advantage of the lower cost of land outside of the capital. This will also allow BlueSquare Data to avoid the risks to customers created by the low power availability in London, and to ensure business continuity in the face of potential terror attacks in the capital.
“Due to the massive success of our colocation services, we are fast approaching full capacity in our Maidenhead site and demand for our tier 4 Milton Keynes facility is exceeding all expectations. We want to be able to meet future demand, both from existing and future customers, and we are looking for a site that will allow us to offer the same high-quality services,” explains Robin Ellis, group commercial director, BlueSquare Data. “Location is one of the most important factors, both for power availability and cost, and we will be looking carefully for sites that meet our needs.”
The search for an additional site comes after BlueSquare Data announced record growth figures for 2009 and the sale of its hosting division to Namesco for £6million earlier in the year.
