“Super Vitamin E” shows super health benefits

Matters of the heart
Every year, an estimated 16.7 million people succumb to heart disease, which accounts for nearly 30% of the total global deaths . Many of those who survive continue to suffer from painful symptoms, disabilities or reduced life expectancy. Despite progress in medical science, few breakthroughs have been made in preventing heart disease, apart from the doctor’s advice of “eat right and exercise”.

However, latest scientific research has demonstrated that tocotrienol plays an important role in supporting the cardiovascular system, reducing likelihood of heart disease and maintaining healthy cholesterol levels. Scientists believe tocotrienol’s health benefits are due to its ability to down-regulate an enzyme called HMG-CoA reductase, which in turn limits cholesterol synthesis in the liver.

Other scientific studies showing tocotrienol’s benefits on cardiovascular disease management include the following:
•   A number of human clinical studies on the oral administration of tocotrienol have shown a significant impact on known cardiovascular disease factors. These include reduction in cholesterol levels, cardiovascular inflammation, arterial hardening and triglyceride levels .
•   A study with human subjects who received 100mg of tocotrienol per day showed total cholesterol drop by 22% and a LDL cholesterol reduction of 20% .

In addition to maintaining cardiovascular health, scientific research has demonstrated tocotrienol’s health benefits in other disease areas. These include lowering the risk of cancers (e.g. breast cancer, prostate cancer and pancreatic cancer) and side effects of cancer treatments, reducing high blood pressure, anti-inflammation and anti-oxidant properties, and regulating blood sugar.
