Idaho Companies Build Community Involvement into Supply Chain

Boise, ID, May 18, 2010 – Idaho companies ranging from Idaho Power to the WaterCooler’s Io DuPont are turning to WITco to support the community through their day-to-day operations.

WITco is an Idaho nonprofit that provides independence-focused services for people with intellectual disabilities in the Treasure Valley including vocational training and competitive job placement through several businesses run onsite at their facilities in Caldwell, Idaho.

“Every time someone buys our products, they’re providing jobs for people with intellectual disabilities,” said Tony DuPont, founder of Io DuPont. “We’re proud to be affiliated with this great organization.”

WITco has been packaging Io DuPont’s Power Cordz™ synthetic fiber bicycle cables for the past 3 years.

“Work is a huge reinforcer,” said Jennifer Ramon, Director of Sales and Marketing at WITco, “it gives a sense of accomplishment and purpose. This is something I hold near and dear to my heart.”

WITco’s variety of services assists about 800 individuals with intellectual disabilities every year.

“It is humbling and inspiring at the same time, everyday I’m here,” said Ramon who has been working for WITco for the past 12 years.

WITco has been providing opportunities in the Treasure Valley since 1974. A contract with Idaho Power has been ongoing for more than 30 years. People with intellectual disabilities have a wide range of job opportunities at WITco including precious metal recovery, packaging, assembly, recycling, document destruction, running a retail trophy shop and popcorn business, screen printing, and providing services for several Government Agencies.
