By: The Bavarian Restaurant & Biergarten “We offer the best tasting freshly-prepared German food in the entire area,” said German Master Chef Doc Homburg with The Bavarian Restaurant & Biergarten. “All of your favorite Bavarian delights are homemade right here at our authentic restaurant.” The Bavarian Restaurant & Biergarten offers a wide variety of Schnitzels served with Spätzle or German Potato Salad, Red Cabbage, Vienna Salad and plenty of freshly-baked authentic German Bread and Herb Butter. It also offers authentic Münchner Sauerbraten and even Braumeister – Gulyas (Goulash). They also make their authentic traditional bratwurst right on the premises. “There is no factory food made here,” Homburg said. “Everything is made fresh and with traditional recipes. I’ve been making the best quality Bavarian food for 50 years and a lot of love, tradition and passion goes into every plate.” Meals at The Bavarian Restaurant & Biergarten start at $14.99 for lunch before 4 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday and $22.99 for large dinner portions. The restaurant became the first Bavarian restaurant in Western North Carolina to offer a lunch menu back on March 1. For those looking for something different, The Bavarian Restaurant & Biergarten offers traditional Schweinshaxn, or knuckle of pork. Be advised, if you are interested in trying this exotic treat, contact the restaurant 24-hours in advance because the traditional recipe takes a full six hours to bake. Also, The Bavarian Restaurant & Biergarten offers a unique Das Bavarian Wild Beast Feast with a varying selection of meat from wild boar and venison to buffalo rib eye and even ostrich steak. The wild game entrees are $27.99 and offer accompanying sides such as German Kartoffel salat, Wild Berry Kopotte and plenty of German bread and butter. “Wild game is a tradition in Bavarian food and we strive to make our menu as authentic as possible,” Homburg said. “It’s a treat that really is not found in the other German restaurants in the area.” Of course, the restaurant also offers a full dessert menu including strudels and hot Black Forest ice bomb. Meanwhile an outdoor 60-seat Biergarten is a great place to relax and enjoy a pint of fine German beer. The Bavarian Restaurant & Biergarten is located 332 Weaverville Highway in Woodfin, just five miles outside of the town on Ashville right up Merrimon Avenue. The restaurant is open Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. for lunch and 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. for dinner. On Saturday and Sunday it is open 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. for lunch and 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. for dinner.
