White-Water Rafting on the Aragvi River in Georgia, Caucasus

May 17, 2010 - PRLog -- Among the rivers of Georgia, the Aragvi provides good opportunities for white-water rafting. It is a mountainous river, but difficulty rates of the offered tours in 2-3, that means moderate obstacles, stones and currents.

There are two possibilities of rafting on the Aragvi:

1.   Rafting on Pshavi’s Aragvi: The tour has difficulty rate of 2-3 and covers distance of 15km. It starts from Village Magharoskari and ends in Tvalivi. 1 hour and 20 minutes is needed for the trip. Rates for rafting trip is GEL 35.00 per person (instructor service and training, rafting jackets, helmets, shoes and oars included).

2.   Rafting on Mtiuleti’s Aragvi: with difficulty rate 2-3, the tour covers 13km distance. Starting from Pasanauri and ending at Village Meneso, the tour lasts for 1 hour and 20 minutes. Rates for the trip are GEL 30.00 per person.

Apart from just making rafting, the travellers can see the surrounding areas of the Aragvi river – Vazha Pshavela’s House Museum in Pshavi (in case of Rafting on Pshavi’s Aragvi) and Fortress Ananuri (when having rafting trip on Mtiuleti’s Aragvi).

Upon request, Adventure Club Jomardi can arrange picnic and transportation. Picnic costs GEL 15.00 per person and include Georgian Mtsvadi, wine, Khachapuri, salad, cheese.
Transportation from Tbilisi to the places and back will cost GEL 10.00 per person (for minimum 6 persons).
