May 17, 2010 - PRLog -- Primary education in India is a strong foundation of a civilized and sophisticated Indian citizen. It is a niche on which growth and development of every citizen as well the whole of nation is built on. Keeping this into mind, Indian Government has made significant contributions in the field and has spread various education programs to reach deep within the reach of the entire nation. This has eventually contributed to the economic growth of the country as well.

The education system in the country is growing at a much faster rate with a key aim to make each and every Indian a literate and civilized human. With a desire to attain this, the government has also committed free and compulsory education to all up to the age of fourteen. Though majority of the children are entering the education system there are some in the rural areas who are still devoid of the free education.

Persistent poverty, illiterates in the rural areas, and chauvinism in the country have made universalization of primary education a distant dream. The government is still making dedicated efforts to achieve this elusive goal by introducing innovative ways and methodologies.

In this continuous effort and improvement of education system there are certain challenges that often come across. We tend to forget the extremes of the system that are heart-rending and have actually become impossible to resolve. It’s good that the government is taking extra effort to spread education even in the rural areas but at the other end of the educational spectrum things are just worsening.

Tiny little tots are pressurized by both parents and teachers for attaining place in the best schools. They are burdened under heavy competitive pressure in terms of grasping things, speaking fluently, and acquire academic skills. All what parents want is to fit them into the best hi-tech school without bothering about their playfulness and rising concern. But what about their inherent curiosity? What about their childhood that is all going into vain?

Both the sides of the spectrum are deficient in one or the other way. At one end there is lack of education and even if its there, poorly qualified teachers and inappropriate infrastructure do not deliver right kind of education. At the other end, there is too much of education and academics that it has become a burden for children.

So, now the government should introduce appropriate methods to balance the education system rather than introducing innovative ways of education.. This will not only help children live their childhood and experiment their own world but will also help them discover their own potentials and live up to themselves.
