There should be enough room to move and to put your machines in. Some of them have sharp edges that can injure any passerby. The walls and the ceiling, about 9 feet tall, should be insulated. It is ideal to have two doors, one mainly used during emergencies such as fire breakouts. Furthermore, your shop should have efficient plumbing, lighting, electrical, and heating and air conditioning systems. Lastly, buy the most effective dust collection system you can afford. It’s better to invest your money now than in medications for your lungs later. It may help you decide what to do, though, if you’ll calculate how much you are going to spend for both procedures and compare them later.

When you have your shop design, you can then buy your supplies and equipment. You may ask, “What are the most important tools to buy first?” Well, to answer your question, it would be a workbench, one that has a smooth top to prevent it from scuffing wood. For storage purposes, you may also create some built-in cabinets and drawers underneath it. Most of all, it should be versatile enough to allow you to work on various projects. Other power tools include hammers, vises, clamps, and saws.
