Today’s society is getting fatter and fatter. The CDC recently reports on a national average that 65% of U.S. adults are either overweight or obese and 35% the nation’s children fall into a similar category. As of yet, our nation has not produced any answers to fight this epidemic. Childhood obesity is at the forefront of the First Lady Michelle Obama’s “Movement Initiative” but even she states that parents must take an active role in their health. Owner and Founder Nelson Morales of Kindenyzer Fitness has put forth an action plan to address this very issue with his “Great American Family Fitness Challenge”. Morales and Kindenyzer Fitness in association with Max Hoyt of FIRM Fitness will be holding a 6 week family challenge within the Central Florida area. So what’s the catch? He will be enlisting the help of the media in choosing 4 families from their viewing audience to participate in this free program.
Nelson and Kindenyzer Fitness will be guiding and coaching these four families through their resistance training program, cardio vascular regimen, goal-setting, and nutritional plan for the full 6 weeks. The wonderful thing is that the media will have the opportunity to follow along as we track all the goals, fears, tears, and triumphs along the way. What is Morales promising the winners of the challenge? He is giving the winning family a year’s worth of free fitness consulting which amounts to $10,000 and free tickets to one of Central Florida’s major amusement parks.
The Family Fitness Challenge provides the opportunity for families to improve their fitness and spend time together. Something that’s sorely needed in today’s go-go-go society. Qualifications for the participants are that the children be at least 6 years old and up. Morales has put together a fitness program that focuses on basic movement patterns for the young age groups and more challenging instruction for the older participants. The workout runs continually so the children won’t have time to get distracted. The Kindenyzer family fitness program is the culmination of Morales’ 10 years of experience as a personal trainer and sports coach. Having found a way for families to bond and get in shape, he is eager to show Orlando what he can help it’s participants accomplish.
The 6 week Great American Family Fitness Challenge is set to start on May 24th. Morales says “With children about to head off to summer camps and parents planning their summer vacations, we need to get them excited about fitness so they are prepared once the rigors of school and work come calling once again.” This event will be held at The Metrowest Condominium Community Gymnasium, “Home of the FIRM Fitness Boot Camps” with the workout itself starting at 6:30pm. There will be a short orientation for the families at 6:15pm. Attendance is open to the media.
