What happen in Bangkok right now giving effect with their automotive production especially Toyota. Sources from Nikkei said that Toyota announced today that production at a Toyota plant near Bangkok will cease by the end of May. Toyota says the plant closure has nothing to do with the public unrest, it should be seen on the context of the reorganization of Toyota’s global operations. Meaning of that, the Toyota Motor Corp. will halt production at one of its four factories in Thailand by the end of this month as part of the automaker’s realignment of its global production system to improve profitability.
Some sources said that the plant has a production capacity of about 50,000 units a year and has been manufacturing Toyota’s Fortuner sport utility vehicles and the Hilux Vigo trucks. Effect of that, around 960 employees will be redeployed elsewhere and the two vehicle models will be transferred to two other plants in Thailand.
By doing that, Toyota would be restructuring efforts to boost efficiency and profitability. They also said that operation is not related to political unrest in the Southeast Asian country.
