May 15, 2010 – San Diego, Ca – San Diego Boca FC (3-1-0) continues their string of road games as they head to the state’s capital to face the Sacramento Gold (3-1-0) on Sunday, May 16 at River City High Stadium at 5:00 pm.

San Diego Boca FC and the Sacramento Gold hold an identical record going into the game at 3-1-0, good for second place in the division. Interestingly though, the winner will emerge from the game as the new points leader of the Western Division.

Boca FC Head Coach Papo Santos stated, “We have played well improving game by game and it will be key to continue to play at a high level to continue to win. We must stay focused on our strengths and play our game. We have been able to keep pace with the top team in our division and it’s our job to keep the pressure on. Our defense needs to continue to be tough and our offense needs to be relentless for the full 90 minutes. We are taking each game one game at a time and are expecting a tough match against Sacramento as they are a solid team.

San Diego Boca FC is riding a three game winning streak and is undefeated on the road. Their most recent victory came against the Sonoma County Sol (0-2-2) on Sunday, May 9 in Sonoma, a 2-1 win for Boca FC. It will be important for the visitors to come out sharp from the outset, as they have fallen behind early in all but one of their matches.

The offense of San Diego Boca FC will need to maintain its scoring pace; recording at least two goals in each of its first four matches. Solid performances from Boca FC forwards Amir Vafaee and Matthew Roget will be necessary, as well as the steady midfield play of Alvaro Baez and Andres Canizalez.

San Diego Boca FC’s defense has been stingy, allowing more than one goal only one time this season. The leadership and strong goalkeeping from Steve Gonzalez has combined well with the tenacious defending of Justin Picou and David Ramirez, and should provide a tough challenge for the Gold’s attack.

Sacramento Gold’s last win came against current division leading Real San Jose (3-1-1), as they would also like to make their way into first place. Their attack has proven to be effective, netting six goals against Southern Oregon (0-4-0) and four against Sonoma County.  The Sacramento defense has also been solid, as they have not yet allowed more than two goals in any game this season.
