What toxins are in your home?
Did you know that 90% of all poison exposures occurred in the home? This is extraordinary. In 2005 there were reports of 218,316 exposures to poison in the home and these were from cleaning products.
90% of our time is spent indoors. The EPA reports that pollution is 5 times higher inside our homes and buildings then outside. Where are these pollutants coming from? They come from all sorts of chemicals we use every day such as paints, carpet, furniture, cleaners, and personnel care.
About 20 million Americans have asthma. 1 out of 13 children under 5 has asthma. That is up 160% from 1980 to 1994. Did you know common house cleaners can increase the risk of children getting asthma? The children who already has asthma are very sensitive to some of these cleaners and have serious life and death attacks.
Bleach is one of the most common things everybody has but did you know it kills hundreds of people and children every year. Just breathing the chlorine can hurt your lungs. Drinking it can kill you. Do you have it in your home?
Do you know if you have Sodium Hydroxide in your home? I bet you do and don’t know it. It is in dishwashing liquid, oven cleaners, and tub and tile cleaners. I inhaled, it can immediately irritate the respitory system. Coming in contact with this chemical can cause severe damage to eyes, skin, mouth and throat. It can also cause kidney and liver damage. Here is a question. Do we want or even need these chemicals in our homes around our children? I hope not. So what can we do?
There are green solutions to this problem. Shaklee developed a product called Basic H that is a better cleaner then all the ones I mentioned and super safe. It is so safe you can even drink it. That is right, totally safe but yet clean the most dirty or greasy place. It is super concentrated and one 16 ounce bottle will make 48 gallons of super cleaner. In just seven days, this product returns back to nature. Totally, green, and safe.
