The island got its name from being a bird sanctuary which the LGU of Palompon Leyte was compelled to take care of and this enthusiasm develop more than just a sanctuary for birds because it has in time it has come to create a natural marine life becoming one of the country’s wonderful spots for diving, snorkeling and swimming. Those with a more adventurous spirit, just have to swim a little closer to the reef drop-off to witness the graceful movements of a manta or simply get thrill of having a thresher shark close by.
