HostICan, a web hosting provider located near the Washington, DC area announced that they are now able to provide 20G/sec in the Richmond, VA. The company was previously able to provide 10 gigabits per second of transport capacity, and eventually hopes to provide 40 gigabits per second when it becomes available later this year. “This is far above the norm for bandwidth in the Richmond metro area.” HostICan’s president and CEO Denis Motova said in a statement last week. Additionally, HostICan announced that they have a $1 million network upgrade currently underway, this will increase transport capacity and smooth the transition to IPv6.
HostICan offers adaptable colocation space for any size enterprise as well as a comprehensive array of managed services. In addition to the new bandwidth availability, HostICan has been able to significantly lower the cost of bandwidth within the Richmond area, which until recently was an un-penetrated market. “We are very grateful for the continued support of the Richmond community! We’ve been able to provide low cost bandwidth to our colocation customers that have enjoyed a 90% reduction in bandwidth pricing.” Motova said.
This is sure to help out businesses in Richmond who need their own servers but just simply do not have the right infrastructure or space in their facility.
