May 14, 2010 - PRLog -- Ladera Ranch, Calif. - (May 14, 2010) – The 6th annual Taste of Ladera, held May 1-2, attracted thousands to Founders Park for a fun filled weekend of top entertainment and fundraising for various charities. Added to the menu of activities this year was the “Celebrity
Chef Challenge” and “OC Talent Show.”  The live musical performances on the main stage
also gave guests a variety to choose from.  These new additions proved to be a hit with the
community and the Taste of Ladera is proud to announce some very top honors to those who participated in the various promotional campaigns this year.

The Celebrity Chef Challenge made its debut with a cast of culinary experts.  “We wanted to bring a culinary feature to the event to help elevate the profile of many great chefs that make up the community,” said Michelle Patterson, Founder and CEO of Event Complete.  “These types of events are about finding the right balance, and we found that it would be interesting to put an emphasis on the new food court area by promoting it with some heavy hitters. The best chefs from the area were invited to participate in a friendly food challenge and then we threw in some twists to make it more entertaining.”  The winner of this year’s Celebrity Chef Challenge is Chef Ken Cruz of Riptide Rockin’ Sushi & Teppan Grills.

On the main stage, ‘80s and ‘90s tunes were spinning while the second stage featured up and coming talent through the OC Talent Show.  The two divisions are middle school and high school. These amazing young artists are a part of a talent competition that goes on to showcase at The Giant Orange Festival at the Great Park in Irvine on July 17th.  The OC Talent Show is proud to announce the semi-finalists: Faith Alive (middle school division) and Ceris Barker (high school). Proceeds benefit the Ladera Ranch Education Foundation, Mamapalooza and The Unforgettables Foundation.

It takes several hundred volunteers to produce the Taste of Ladera each year.  The festival began with the residents in Ladera Ranch and has

expanded its volunteer base to other cities in Orange County. Proceeds from the event benefit AYSO, Ladera Grays Baseball, Savannah’s Organic Ranch, Ocean Institute, Bethany’s Gait, Alzheimer’s Association of Orange County, Laura’s House, The Unforgettables Foundation, Juvenile Diabetes Research Fund, Mountain View Church, Mamapalooza, Mischel Foundation, Cox Cares, Goodwill, Mariners Church, Ladera Ranch National Junior Basketball and the American Cancer Association.

The Taste of Ladera has become a signature event for the entire community to participate in.  Since its inception, the nonprofit has raised $300K for various charities and schools in the community.  This year, Taste of Ladera was presented by Riptide Rockin’ Sushi & Teppan Grills and The Derby Deli & Dueling Piano Bar.  Other sponsors include: The Ranch Sports Grill, Val Westover Photography, Ketel One Vodka, The Ladera Grays Baseball, AYSO, Mamapalooza, Audi Mission Viejo, Infiniti Mission Viejo, KSBR 88.5 FM, OC Rock Radio.com, O’Connell Landscape Maintenance, Michelle Fox of Kitchen Couture, Boogie Box, Jaguar Land Rover Mission Viejo, Barefoot Wine and Bubbly, Toyota of Rancho Santa Margarita, Park Place Lexus Mission Viejo, Sierra Nevada Brewing Company, Laura’s House, Mouse Graphics, All Stage Pro, Philco, The Ladera Times, Townzilla.com and OC Music Magazine.
