May 14, 2010 - PRLog -- The NSPCC has awarded a five year ICT contract to Northgate Managed Services (Northgate) for the provision of an ICT managed service.  Under this contract, Northgate will be responsible for designing, implementing and managing a state of the art, resilient IT infrastructure supporting more than 2000 users in 130 locations across the UK,  enhancing the quality of service to NSPCC staff and reducing costs.

Renowned as the UK’s leading child protection charity the NSPCC’s aim has remained steadfast – to protect children from cruelty and to increase awareness of the issues that surround such abuse.  Today’s NSPCC continues to fight for the rights of children and works hard to promote its vision of ending child cruelty through a combined approach of services, policy and campaigning.

Thanks to a focus on the benefits delivered through new technologies the NSPCC has partnered with Northgate to implement a full ICT managed service based on the concept of ‘pay as you use’ utility based computing  To achieve this, Northgate will build, own and manage the ICT infrastructure on behalf of the NSPCC.  This service will be delivered from Northgate’s ITIL certified centre of excellence in Belfast and using Northgate’s national engineering team to provide local support at NSPCC offices throughout the UK.

Commenting on the new support contract Ian Chivers, Director of Finance and Corporate Services, NSPCC said, “As a third sector organisation, , the need to ensure value for money when selecting external suppliers is paramount.  I am confident that by appointing Northgate, we have aligned ourselves with a provider that can not only deliver cost  effective and reliable IT services across our organisation but also has the ability to grow with us as we continue to enhance our ability to engage with young people in an increasingly broad and fast changing  digital world.

Mr. Chivers continued, “Northgate is providing a utility computing model.  In essence we have in place a ‘pay as we use’ system which allows the NSPCC   to accurately predict usage and to control costs.  I am confident that over the next five years the NSPCC partnership with Northgate will allow us to optimise our use of technology and in doing so help us to work towards our main aim – ending child cruelty.”

Andy Ross, Chief Executive, Northgate Managed Services stated, “We are delighted to have been awarded the NSPCC contract.  The Third sector is an important marketplace for Northgate and the award of this contract is clear evidence of our ability to provide the best, most effective solution overall.  The NSPCC’s decision speaks volumes and clearly demonstrates its confidence in our company and our staff.   We are committed to working hand-in-hand with the NSPCC team and over the next five years we will be introducing a number of new services that I am confident will allow the NSPCC to achieve clear return on its ICT investment.”
