May 13, 2010 - PRLog -- SMT Nuremberg is scheduled to take place June 8-10 at the Messezentrum Nuremberg. Representatives from Data I/O the leading provider of manual and automated device programming solutions, will be on hand to meet visitors to discuss their programming requirements at booth 539 in Hall 7.

With support for the latest flash memory devices including SD, MMC, MoviNAND and iNAND, FlashCORE III is the best programming engine on the market supporting large devices and provides significant performance gains by increasing the download and read/write speeds by a factor of ten. High-density devices and file sizes are increasing at an exponential rate in the automotive and consumer electronic markets and FlashCORE III eliminates production bottlenecks by delivering vital production throughput gains to customers using cutting edge devices in their products.

Fred Hume, Data I/O’s President and CEO, comments, "FlashCore III, our newest programming architecture, provides the capability to program the latest NAND Flash devices in approximately a one-tenth the time of FlashCore II. As devices get faster, we upgrade the FlashCore hardware/firmware to stay ahead with the technology.”

Data I/O’s automated handling systems, the manual programmer FlashPAK III and the Process Control software applications all support FlashCORE III. This allows customers to seamlessly transfer job profiles (algorithms, data files and programming parameters) from design through manufacturing. FlashCORE III is also compatible with all existing FlashCORE algorithms and adapters, giving customers the largest library of NAND support and Bad Block schemes available anywhere. Field upgrade kits are available for existing automated system installations.

Also incorporating FlashCORE III technology is Data I/Os automated inline programming feeder, ProLINE-RoadRunner™, for Panasonic placement platforms, MPAV2B, MPAG3, and MSF. The RoadRunner claims to improve manufacturing profits and time-to-market for automotive manufacturers and high volume electronics, such as cellular telephones, wireless communications, smart applications and airbag controllers, by eliminating production line bottlenecks associated with the use of high-density and micro-controller devices, also known as ICs. Data I/O products currently support the ProLINE-RoadRunner™, on Siemens SIPLACE assembly machines, Fuji assembly machines, Universal Instruments GSM platform, and Assembleon platforms.

The RoadRunner removes unprogrammed flash memory devices from tape, programmes four devices in parallel, and then delivers the programmed parts to the pick-up point of the placement machine.

The product offers just-in-time inline programming, rapid ROI, a dramatic reduction in inventory carrying and rework cost and a PC card support for data and job transfer on Windows 95/98, Windows NT/2000 and Windows-XP. The benefits of moving from outsourcing to in-line device programming, using ProLINE-RoadRunner, include simplify inventory management, less material handling, Lean manufacturing, immediate response to code-changes, supply chain efficiencies, higher manufacturing profits and improved time-to-market.

To move from programming-at-test to programming-at-placement, using ProLINE-RoadRunner, will have a positive impact on profits as well as balance the production line. Programming-at-placement using ProLINE-RoadRunner also optimizes test and floor space, reduces the number of testers and board scrap costs and will also only place verified devices with high throughput at low cost.

Process Control Software, TaskLink™for Windows®, is installed off-line on a secured personal computer. A system administrator uses TaskLink to create and secure programming Jobs. Completed Jobs are saved to a PCMCIA card then transferred to the ProLINE-RoadRunner™ to run a specific Job. Built-in Diagnostics and Job Statistics are written back to the RoadRunner’s PCMCIA card at the end of the production run and statistics are saved back to TaskLink for analyzing performance results to assist in optimizing production yields and throughput.

Data I/O looks forward to meeting visitors to discuss integrated manufacturing solutions at booth 539 in Hall 7.
