May 13, 2010 - PRLog -- NORCROSS, Georgia –  “Ashworthy Causes”, Ashworth College’s (http://www.ashworthcollege.edu) on-going community service initiative,  has kicked off its second fundraising drive of  2010 through its support of “Walk Now for Autism Speaks: Georgia.”

The Georgia based online college will seek pledges in their efforts to raise donations for the Marcus Autism Center. The drive culminates with a 2.2 mile walk around Atlantic Station in Atlanta, GA. on Sunday, May 23rd. Walk day registration starts at 8 AM and the events kick off at 10 AM.

"Walk Now for Autism Speaks: Georgia" is a fun-filled family friendly event and is the single most powerful force to fund vital research that will lead to answers the Marcus Autism Center needs. The event includes the walk, guest speakers, a resource fair for parents, and entertainment that includes a children’s area with games and face painting.

“This is for a great cause and if we get at least 100 people to donate $5 from our company, friends and family, we can definitely reach our goal. Of course we look forward to raising a whole lot more!” said Jeannie Brady, Director of Human Resources at Ashworth College.

Every 20 minutes, another family receives the devastating news that their child has autism. Autism is the fastest growing serious developmental disorder in America.

“This latest in Ashworthy Causes gives Ashworth College another opportunity to get involved in our community by giving back and celebrating and helping overcome the challenges of life” says Gary Keisling, President of Ashworth College.

Although Ashworth College is known as a leading provider of nationally accredited online education programs including a wide range of health care diploma and degree programs, Ashworth prides itself in its community outreach endeavors and regularly supports several organizations to include Mothers Against Drunk Driving, the Atlanta Community Food Bank, Habitat for Humanity, the American Cancer Society, The Salvation Army, The March of Dimes and, most recently, Donations for Haitians.
