May 13, 2010 - PRLog -- While everyone was certain Motorola was history when it comes to mobile Phone manufacturing, the company resurfaced out of nowhere with the release of their Motorola Dext, which is a social media optimized phone with slide out Qwerty keyboard. Soon after the release of the Motorola Milestone followed which is almost identical, but with a smoother design, overall.

Just like the Motorola Dext, the Motorola Milestone runs on Google’s Android, but the Milestone comes with the latest version of the OS installed. While the Dext was equipped with “Motoblur”, a shell over Android, very much like the “Sense” interface is on HTC’s Android models, but Motorola decided to leave it off the Milestone, which uses the standard Android interface. The benefit of not running the shell, is a faster phone overall, as less internal memory is used, however, with the loss of the “Motoblur” shell, the phone has also lost the enhanced security features, running a shell provides.

Another feature missing from the Motorola Milestone, when compared to the Motorola Dext, is Wi-Fi functionality. While both phones support GPS, 3G and HSDPA connectivity, only the Dext offers Wi-Fi connectivity for connecting to the Internet. Other then Wi-Fi the phones are almost identical in functionality. From both models the Motorola Milestone is the only one equipped with a 5 Megapixel camera, and also the only model offering Bluetooth and USB support. It also has an on board MP3 player.

Both models come equipped with a touch screen, where the Dext has a TFT display of 3.2” and the Milestone comes equipped with a larger display of 3.7”. Overall, both phones look good, and work well, but the Motorola Milestone appears to be more “finished” as the rough edges, clearly present in the Dext model, appear to have been polished off in the Milestone edition.
