As of Monday, May 10, 2010, ObitsUtah.com has become ABC4’s content provider for online Utah obituary listings. They are an exclusive service of the Utah Funeral Directors Association and have also partnered with the UFDA to provide Utah residences with a centralized database of all Utah obituaries.
ABC4, who is also a parent company of CW30, has been in communication with ObitsUtah.com for the past 3 months. Tanelle Lindquist, of ABC4, was instrumental in solidifying the partnership with the two companies. “Tanelle was great to work with,” said Randy Clouse, Co-founder of ObitsUtah.com. “She was a key player in the merger and saw the entire process through”.
With the new partnership, Utah residences will now be able to view and access obituaries online through ABC4’s website. “We are excited about this union”, said Clouse, “ObitsUtah is rapidly growing and many Utah families and Mortuaries are seeing the benefits of a centralized database specifically for the state of Utah. Not only is the service cost effective but it also simplifies the obituary listing process by having all Utah obituaries in one online location”.
There are many features included in the service such as being able to share obituaries across social media networks and having all viewing and funeral information together. In the near future families will also be able to add multiple pictures of their loved ones so that a full life story is shared. “About a year and a half ago”, Randy Clouse said, “My brother-in-law passed away. We called the local newspaper about listing his obituary and the cost was $1,600! I knew there had to be a better way and have been working on this since then. ObitsUtah.com now allows families to honor their loved ones with full life stories and for one very affordable price. The obituary is listed until the day after the funeral and then is archived for two years.” Randy Clouse and Ted Passey, both founders of ObitsUtah.com, believe that this service is revolutionizing how families prepare for funerals and honor the legacy of their loved ones. http://www.youtube.com/
