SOUTHWEST INFRARED SERVICES Announces the Opening of the Newest Service Area in the EquineIR™ Network Which Provides Infrared Scans of Horses

EquineIR™ is a service line which provides infrared surveys for horse owners, veterinarians, and horse trainers to detect potential health issues and injuries in horses, potentially saving horse owners thousands of dollars.  EquineIR™ is a national network of certified thermographers having been trained in the application of equine thermography.  EquineIR™ contractors use infrared thermography to detect potential health problems and injuries in horses.  Southwest Infrared Services announces the opening of the newest service area in the EquineIR™ Network.   Southwest Infrared Services is an Inspection Service Company which has provided inspection services in this area since 2009.

Southwest Infrared Services is owned and operated by Amy Powell.  “Southwest Infrared Services will provide an evaluation that for the horse owner will save time and money but will also improve the quality of life for their horse,” states Ms. Powell.   “EquineIR™ is a unique and innovative service and I am excited about the ability to assist horse owners and veterinarians in my local market in this capacity,” she concludes.

Before thermography, veterinarians could only locate problems using traditional methods such as observation and palpation. Now, using advanced EquineIR™ thermography, abnormalities present stressed tissues even before damage occurs. This methodology has been developed and refined over the past twenty-five years and has been proven to be an effective imaging technique for the following:  Pre-Purchase, Hoof Balancing, Saddle Fit, Track Footing, Pre-Race, Joint Inflammation and General Diagnostics.  Since animals cannot speak, it has been difficult for caretakers to truly identify hidden or masked conditions.  Now with infrared thermal imaging, many of these physiological and anatomical issues are exposed at a much earlier stage.  Early detection equals early prevention.  Anatomical imaging, such as x-rays, cannot detect soft tissue conditions.  Physiological imaging such as infrared imaging has the ability to recognize soft tissue conditions and areas that are indicative of anatomical issues.

EquineIR™ has partnered with the Equine Thermal Imaging Institute (ETII) (www.equinethermalimaginginstitute.com), whose management consists of two licensed Veterinarians, a seasoned trainer and a world-class farrier, with a combined experience of over 130 years.  ETII will provide technical direction on the training courses and expert interpretations through the InterpretIR.com Network (www.interpretir.com) which aligns EquineIR™ Certified Technicians (ECTs) with Veterinarians specializing in infrared thermography of horses to create detailed, graphic medical evaluations.  

Equine IR™ is owned by United Infrared, Inc. (UI) (www.unitedinfrared.com), a North Carolina Corporation which provides applications-specific resource systems for contractors of infrared thermographic services.  UI is owned by Greg Stockton and Peter Hopkins and was created to help contractors add infrared technologies to their business.
