GenScript's eStain device
PISCATAWAY, N.J., May 10, 2010-Internationally recognized biology contract research organization GenScript USA Inc. has invented a revolutionary protein gel staining device. It takes 7 minutes or less with no loss in detection sensitivity to complete the staining and destaining processes of SDS-PAGE using Coomassie blue, which usually takes 2–3 hours for staining and overnight for destaining.

SDS-PAGE and gel staining are the most common techniques used in proteomics research. The staining and destaining processes involved usually take many long hours to complete. GenScirpt’s 7-minute eStainTM Protein Staining System is built based on the electric staining concept. An electric field generated between the cathode and anode in the device is used in both gel staining and de-staining processes. “It only takes 7 minutes to get the job done,” said John Wang, VP of Bio-Reagent Division. “I am sure that with this invention, there will be a whole lot more happy researches out there from now on.”
