Food Industry has OIL on the Menu Now! What does that mean?
PRLog (Press Release) - May 10, 2010 -
There are many negatives and several positives to the recent leak off the Gulf of Mexico.    The oil will reak havoc on nature and employment and will also lend way to a whole new group of jobs.   Only the leanest and most savvy managers will scoop up the best employment talent in the aftermaths of Katrina, Oil Leak, and up to 22% unemployment.   Where's the Silver Lining in this Cloud - read on?

The downside is all over the news:

* Wildlife
* Environment
* Employment
* Jobs

The real question is . . . .

How will it affect me as an executive in the food industry?   How will it affect my employees?   If you're a broker or a food industry leader in the gulf - this $2.4 Billion Mississippi Food Industry has strong propensity to be rivited in the coming months.  OK - that's the bad news - now tell me some Good News . . . Glad you asked?

Truth is that some jobs (many not withing food industry) will be reduced and some jobs will be created and/or increased like:

* Clean-up
* Prevention of spread from oil-clean-up crews and specialized equipment groups
* Analysts and Business Executives
* Researchers
* Student Assistants
* And More
* Ecological Experts
* Biologists
* Gov't Jobs
* Chemical Engineers
* Chemical Industry Analysts

Many Food Brokers and Food Industry leaders are concerned that this situation could cause seasoned employees to flock to other higher paying jobs on the Gulf-coast areas as the situation transitions from Food to Flood (i.e. Oil Flood, that is).

However, if you're a hiring manager in the Food Industry - don't fear - read on?   You already have you're Texas Tea and Georgia Gold - right in your backyard - just dig it out!

With the highest County in Mississippi reporting a greater than 22% unemployment rate - some of the best sales talent on the Gulf has been unemployed for weeks and months - just find them.   See example below . . . . .

BRIEF CASE STUDY:  Recent Mississippi Sales Rep. from Biloxi:

Robert Liberato is a seasoned entrepreneur with over 25 years of direct food, sales, purchasing, and leadership expertise.    Very recently, a major Food Company restructured and he found himself looking for a new sales position in the very industry that he's an expert in.  Bob says, "It's crazy to think that folks with decades of closing and purchasing skills are taking many many months to land their dream-jobs - I believe it's a matter of who you know.   I have been in the food industry since a teen ager and worked from the ground up . .  that's why I over-performed in sales - I have done everything from cut meat to cut huge sales deals for very large food proposals.   I'm looking for the right fit amidst a very very tough market that seems to be experiencing some of the biggest hurdles in history - I'm looking for a company where I can do what I've done for several decades now - double and triple sales and grow that division!  Due to the current employment situation in MS -   I'm flexible to work a strong position within food sales or possibly an employment position to assist my home-area and region.   We weathered multiple storms and Katrina too - we'll weather this crisis too!"

This entire negative situation can only be turned into a positive by the best recruiters and managers in the industry - those who can dive deep - overlook the unemployment and choose to skim the cream - OK - in this case - OIL off the top!
