For Producer, Musician, Mentor, and Award-Winning Songwriter, Elza Mueller-Roemer, it’s all about the music and giving back. On Saturday, May 22 at 4 p.m., Elza will continue her legacy of giving back when she performs as a soloist and chorale member of Chris Coogan’s widely acclaimed Good News Gospel Choir to raise money for Kids Empowered by Your Support (KEYS) at the Greens Farms Congregational Church, 71 Hillandale Road, Westport, CT. For tickets call, 203-454-4695.
Kids Empowered by Your Support, Inc. was founded in Spring 2004 to help the under-served youth of Bridgeport, CT, living in an inner city environment, build their confidence and achieve their musical dreams. Please visit www.keysmusic.org for more information.
In addition to the Good News Gospel Choir’s joyful, rollicking program, conducted by multi-talented Chris Coogan, the concert will feature guest performances by African singer/songwriter, Christopher Bettywood and Indie artist, Elza Mueller-Roemer. The Good News Gospel Choir, a group of 50 multi-denominational voices, is the brainchild of Mr. Coogan, composer, performer, teacher, chorale director, and producer, whose music is rooted in the jazz and gospel traditions. Coogan leaves his musical imprint on the choir with his repertoire of original material, as well as traditional gospel and blues songs. Besides enjoying a successful career as a pianist and singer, Coogan leads a jazz group, teaches jazz piano, and leads gospel workshops throughout the country to help reinvigorate church and community choirs.
Elza’s appearance with the Good News Gospel Choir follows her May 14 show at the Cutting Board Café. Last month, her performance at the Cutting Board Café sold out. In addition, on Friday, July 9 (7:15 to 8p.m.), Elza will be performing on the bill with the Mystery Tour Beatles Show Band on the first night of the Danbury Summer Series, Concerts on the Green, Danbury, CT.
