May 10, 2010 - PRLog -- The Scandinavian American Economic Development Alliance is celebrating its fifth year of bringing international companies to the United States, creating jobs and boosting economies. This organization is planning a major Trade Mission this August which will consist of 12-14 companies from Scandinavia visiting the six state region that the Alliance serves. The target companies will be in the alternative energy, sustainability, and clean technology industries. Scandinavia is the world's leader in these disciplines.

Previously known as The Swedish-American Chamber of Commerce South Central US, the Board of Directors voted last November to broaden the organizations scope to include ALL of Scandinavia. "We are thrilled that our Mission now includes not only Sweden but Denmark, Finland, Iceland, and Norway. Our focus is still business development between our six state region and now all of Scandinavia. States in the coalition are Alabama, Arkansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, and Tennessee. I believe our greatest success stories lie ahead of us as the excitement of our new direction is contagious," reports the organization’s President Steve Vassallo.

SAEDA is directed by a thirty person Board of Directors (five appointed from each state). Mike Demster, who is the International Director of Business Development for The Greater Memphis Chamber of Commerce, is Chairman. "Our region of the US is by far the most aggressive in offering incentives for business expansion and new capital investment. Once the knowledge of this spreads throughout Scandinavia, our activity should dramatically increase. Incentives, however, is not our only advantage. The cost of operations in the six state region also rates very favorably when compared to any other region of the country. Our appealing climate, attractive labor rates for skilled workers, and nonunion environment are greatly appealing to foreign investors," add Vassallo, the organization’s President for 5 years.

Steve Vassallo is both a Certified Economic and Community Developer as well as an Economic Development Finance Professional. He has been actively engaged in Economic Development since the mid 1980's and has been actively consulting since 1999. In 2001, he was appointed to an Economic Development Advisory Council in northern Sweden. In 2008, he opened his own firm, Global Colors of Economic Successes. He has recruited businesses from seven foreign countries with the majority coming from the Scandinavian region.

Scandinavian American Economic Development Alliance is headquartered in Madison, Mississippi and was a derivative of a highly successful sister city relationship between Madison and Solleftea, Sweden that Vassallo founded in 1997.
