New Wine Company Uses Blood-Thirsty Zombies

A New Wine Company Uses Blood-Thirsty Zombies To Endorse the Subtle Flavors Found in New Line of Argentinian Wines

May 10, 2010 - PRLog -- New York, NY – May 10, 2010 – Launching this summer, the new Terra Fossil line of Argentinean wines will soon be sniffed and sipped by connoisseurs around the world. However long before this smartly designed line of five wines was ever bottled, the independent commercial production studio Malbec Gold Productions was created and charged with the task of producing Terra Fossil’s multi-platform advertising campaign. The Dinosaurs on the wine's labels is not the only unique distinction separating Terra Fossil from the rest of the pack.

“We produce for traditional, nontraditional, digital, and out-of-home media with the sole purpose of initiating a dialogue between consumer and brand,” explained Tim Goodwin, Marketing Director. “Our production values are consistent throughout all forms of media but we are sensitive to the surroundings and mindset of the consumer on the receiving end of each medium. We don’t think the medium is the message, we believe the medium AND the message are the message.

Rather than pouring over reels and reels to choose a production studio partner, the executives at Terra Fossil chose to build its own studio with a collection of like-minded auteurs and advertising savvy producers. Currently, the production house is making an impact on the production business through an innovative approach to business and cutting-edge executions.

While Malbec Gold Productions was developing an edge-y Branding Campaign for Terra Fossil, they did an experiment for Smart Car (Smart Car vs Lamborghini) which had tremendous viral video success on YouTube, Metacafe and Break.com.

Malbec’s first campaign for Terra Fossil is a rollout of five different spots for their first five wines: Malbec, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc. Each spot models itself after a different film genre: Horror, Musical, Action, Crime, and Sitcom. And, in the near future you'll see two more genres built around the launch of two more wines, a Pinot Grigio from Italy and a new Sauvignon Blanc from New Zealand.

“The spots are the bi-product of a long form web strategy to produce short films that incorporate the Terra Fossil wines, but with the tongue-n-cheek idea of: how not to market our wines” explained Andy Kumpon, Producer/Writer/Director. “The strategy is to create compelling entertainment that will stir up buzz for the product and support it with a more traditional branding campaign…although there is nothing traditional about our campaign.”

In one short film, flesh-munching zombies spare victims who drank the wine than those who abstained. Kumpon wanted the camp of 70's Grindhouse-horror, as well as humor. In their other short films, you'll see a diverse mixture of talent, great ideas and low-budget ingenuity.

“Building the production company from the ground up was the way to go for us,” explained Greg Leib, one of the three entrepreneurs behind Terra Fossil Wines and Malbec Gold Productions. “We wanted to take a different approach with our advertising so finding a production house with the same sensibilities just didn’t make as much sense as starting our own…it also would never have been as much fun!”

Malbec Gold Productions/ Terra Fossil Wine

Malbec Gold Productions specializes in viral campaigns and commercial production.

Terra Fossil is a wine company in the United States. Terra Fossil varietals hail from Argentina - Malbec, Merlot, Cabernet, Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc. We are currently launching our 2009 Pinot Grigio 750ML/Magnum from Italy, as well as branding Terra Fossil with Wineries in Spain (Tempranillo and Cava), New Zealand (Sauvignon Blanc), France (Beaujolais) and Germany (Riesling).

The company's philosophy is simple yet ingenious: to private label with international wine producers to build the Brand Worldwide. Several wineries have contacted Terra Fossil USA through their all video website, and wanted to get onboard with this innovative approach to brand development. We truly believe that Dinosaurs are a universal theme that all people, from any country or walk of life, can relate and enjoy.
