PRLog - May 8, 2010 - Blood Brothers, the first in the Valantinus trilogy, kicks it right off the chain with an eerie, blood chilling tale, told in first person.
Valantinus Blood Brothers
In the beginning...
They were asps, disguised in human skins, their primary food source: Human blood. They were the Men and Women of Naja Haje, the forerunners of the vampires we know today.
2,791 years after their creation, the Pure, the Evil, and the Equalizer emerge as The Unholy Trinity. When the moral compass is non-existent, the Seven Deadly Sins begin to look like minor infractions. Corrupt passions and lust for power collide when a rival with a secret vendetta, leading a band of renegade blood drinkers--the New Breed--is on a mission to tear down the infrastructure of a system that has been in place since their creation. Valantinus, Governor of the damned, enforces order with brutality. Vengeance sets an already blackened heart aflame as those he trusts are slain, or shift their alliances to Golden Mask—the vampire with no face—his immortal enemy.
The novel opens with the ominous line, "Crazy as you are, why do you promise yourself to live a long time, you who cannot even count on a single day?"
Reviewers are really sinking their fangs into it...pun intended.
"Valantinus is cold-blooded, calculating, and one of the most interesting and compelling vampire creations since Blade." Michael Buffalo Smith - Swampland Magazine.
"Everything is so vivid, the Covenants, mind-blowing. It reads like a movie...congrats!"
"Usually, when I read fiction I may suspend belief, but I can't help using my scientific background to scoff at the improbability of the motivations, behaviour and physiology of these mythical beasts…and yet, I couldn’t help nodding in assent when she explains why and how these vampires function, breed, and survive. It just makes sense.” William Holstein, M.D., Ph.D, FRCPath. U.K.
"Bloody, evil...sexy. I can see it as a movie." Anthony Bodden, Co-scriptwriter, cult classic film "Belly."
This novel doesn't take you anywhere you would expect it to, which is what makes it new, fresh and exciting.
