MCT donated $2,500 toward an annual closing cost award given by the Affordable Housing Conference of Montgomery County as part of its “Break the Barrier to Home Ownership” contest. Three Montgomery County residents received a total of $22,500 to help them purchase their first home in Montgomery County at the 19th annual Affordable Housing Summit on May 3, 2010.
MCT’s donation directly benefited Ana Bolanos, an administrative support specialist with NIST – Department of Commerce in Germantown. She has two daughters, ages 3 and 4. “Homeownership is my dream,” says Bolanos. “To me, it means progress and stability and is a sure step towards a better future for my family.”
The “Break the Barrier to Home Ownership” contest asks each applicant to state in 200 words or less what homeownership means to them. More than 100 people applied for the award this year. The winning essays are chosen by members of the Affordable Housing Conference planning committee.
“Helping a local resident achieve their dream of homeownership aligns with MCT’s values of supporting our local community and helping local residents and our members achieve financial success,” says Robin Bates, MCT’s VP of Lending.
This is the second year in a row that MCT donated $2,500 to the Affordable Housing Conference’s closing cost award as a part of the Conference’s “Break the Barrier to Home Ownership” contest.
