Cincinnati Based Managed Care Organization Awarded 1 of 18 Contracts from State of Ohio
WorkStar Health Services Recognized by Ohio Bureau of Workers’ Compensation
Cincinnati, OH — May 7, 2010 — The Ohio Bureau of Workers’ Compensation (BWC) has awarded WorkStar Health Services, Inc. a contract with the state as a certified Managed Care Organization (MCO). WorkStar is the first MCO awarded a contract with the State of Ohio since 2002 and is one of only eighteen Managed Care Organizations approved by the BWC.
“We formed WorkStar to help organizations and their employees return to work quickly, safely and easily without having to take on the burden of all the paperwork and insurance information alone,” co-founder of WorkStar Health Services John Cacaro said. “WorkStar provides the expert counsel and case management for employees who are injured on the job and for employers who are trusting their most valuable assets will receive the best course of treatment possible to ensure a safe return to work.”
The organization provides proactive medical case management, a return to work program and prevention training to help coordinate safety and injury prevention programs for employers.

WorkStar is headed by administrator Bridgid Slivken, a registered nurse with certification in case management (CCM) and a background in worker’s compensation. Slivken will also serve as the Managed Care Organization Business Council representative to the Ohio Bureau of Workers’ Compensation.
