PRLog (Press Release) - May 07, 2010 -
After noticing an increased number of searches for videogame and console discounts through the site, the UK’s leading discount code and voucher website conducted research and found that more than three quarters of male gamers have been attracted to a female character from a videogame.

The study by www.MyVoucherCodes.co.uk of more than 1,400 male gamers asked respondents which videogames character they would most like to date if the character was real, and found that Rubi Malone from the videogame WET was the character most men were attracted to, with Jill Valentine from Resident Evil 5 second in the list with 64% - joined in the top ten by fellow Resident Evil character Sheva Alomar.

Tomb Raider heroine Lara Croft was denied the title of most fancied female video game character, coming in third in the poll with 61% of men claiming they would date her. The respondents were asked to choose which female videogame characters they would most like to date, if they were real women, from a selection of images.

Of the 1,438 men who took part in the anonymous study, 59% were in a relationship. Of these, 8% admitted to finding a female videogame character more attractive than their wife or girlfriend on one or more occasion.

Mark Pearson, Managing Director of http://www.MyVoucherCodes.co.uk, commented on the findings;

“Discounts and deals for video games and consoles makes up a large number of the total searches on MyVoucherCodes.co.uk and we were keen to do a bit of research into men’s and women’s thoughts on videogame characters.

“It was quite interesting, if not slightly refreshing, to see that Lara Croft didn’t top the poll, after she has been one of the most renowned female characters of all time, especially for her appearance.”

He concluded,

“It’s about time Lara Croft made way for some of the new female faces in the gaming world. As technology enables characters to look even more realist, it seems they are even starting to turn the heads of women!”
