What if we respected other living creatures as much as we do the almighty dollar? What if we learned to share our planet? What if the agriculture industry shared the land with all living creatures? This is how the Wild Series came about.
Have you ever witnessed someone mistreat the environment or animals and wished you could make it right. This is how the Wild Series began. As a patrol deputy in cattle country Deputy Cook could do nothing as land owners killed anything that crossed their property they didn't like. While patrolling the Colorado Mountains, Deputy Cook fantasized about a rancher that shared the land with all living creatures even with the wolves.
Many of the places described in the Wild Series are set in Grand County Colorado where Fern Cook worked as a patrol deputy. Aside from being a patrol deputy, Fern has processed many crime scenes while she was a crime scene tech with Boulder P.D. Her real life experience shows up in the detailed description of the crime scene process. The police officers in the books are composites of officers she worked with while on patrol. This makes the characters in the police procedural part of the story true to life and not the stereo-typical characters you find in most detective novels or the magical crime scene processing you see on most of the crime scene TV shows.
Our review at Coffee Time Romance described Wild Evolution as "not the normal werewolf tale". We at Muddy Mutts are proud of that.
