Principals of various city schools and educationists participated in the programme. Teacher training curriculum must be totally revisited in the context of modern learners, said Mr. Balasubramanian, as the sheer magnitude of informal learning which happens must be taken into account. “There is need for a fresh air of thinking. We need to equip teachers so that they will be able to synergise formal and informal means of learning,” he added. Kartar Singh, Deputy Director (South India), British Council, said, “Millions of students coming out of colleges are not able to use the opportunities the country is offering due to lack of communication skills or confidence.” Emphasis The seminar emphasised the use of new technologies in learning and writing in the English language.
