May 5, 2010 - PRLog -- ATLANTA – (May 1, 2010) –  In honor of National Foster Care Month, Grammy award-winning artist Ne-Yo's Compound Foundation will host its third annual “Celebration of Mothers” on Sunday, May 9, 2010. The theme for the event, “Sunday Brunch at the Opera”, will pay special tribute to Georgia’s foster care mothers. The event is being held to encourage, celebrate and reward these mothers for all that they do each and every day. This special brunch will be held at a private location from 2 pm-5 pm, highlighting wellness and self-care with the help of sponsors, Carol’s Daughter and Design Essentials product line.

Joining in on the mission to help children in foster care is R&B’s sensational soul Artist Raheem DeVaughn. With his new album, “Love & War Masterpiece”, DeVaughn will serenade the moms attending. He will deliver a conscious message, with songs like “Super Hero”, a prelude to his mother.  The “Celebration of Mothers” is a project of Compound Cares, a program dedicated to raising awareness and support for youth and families in the child welfare community. This is an invitation only event for foster mothers, who have been identified by the Department of Human Services, Division of Family and Children Services to have an outstanding record of service to children in Georgia, and guests of the Compound Foundation. “Our hope is that we can give the moms a great time, recruit more women who want to foster our young people in need and make them feel the appreciation we all have for all that they do,” said Reynell Hay, co-Founder of the Compound Foundation.

The foster moms will be honored by the Luminary Moms in attendance, including Sylvia Reed (mother of Mayor Kasim Reed), Loraine Smith (mother of R&B singer and founder, Ne-Yo), Alfredia Scott (wife of US Congressman David Scott), Janice Faulkner (mother of NBA star Lou Williams) and Aliyah Najm (mother of hip-hop artist T-Pain). Luminary Mothers are women who exemplify strength and commitment to family, while balancing professional and public lives. Luminary Moms serve a very special role in presenting the honors of the day to a special honoree identified by DHS to have an outstanding record of service to children in Georgia.
