FOUNTAIN INN, S.C., April 27, 2010 – Wholesale packaging distributor IPS Packaging (http://www.ipack.com)
“Many of our existing customers had locations in and around Memphis and asked us to open a branch in the area so those facilities would have better access to our services and offerings,” stated IPS founder and president Jerry W. Murdock. “The opening shows the strong commitment that we’ve made to our clientele in that region.”
The new location is also part of the company’s five-year growth plan to expand to major distribution centers throughout the southeast. “Fast Company magazine has called Memphis the nation’s busiest distribution center, and the city acknowledges itself to be ‘America’s Distribution Center,’ according to Memphis Business Journal,” said Gregg Schuliger, the company’s vice president of sales. “We’ve opened our new distribution center in a strategic location that is within 7 miles of two-thirds of the city’s manufacturing and distribution centers. From there, we can further touch other distribution and manufacturing companies throughout Memphis and the surrounding region, to include Mississippi and Arkansas. We have access to a significant number of customers. For us, it’s all about customers - the products we offer and the way we deliver our products to our customers.”
The new distribution center, located at 4481 Pleasant Hill in Memphis will open in mid May. Alan Sanger, Business Manager, for IPS Packaging’s Charlotte, N.C. branch, will be assuming the responsibility for the company’s growth plan in the Memphis region.
IPS Packaging has been a leading distributor of packaging supplies and equipment since 1976. “As one of the south’s largest independent packaging distributors, we emphasize offering our customers the strongest value proposition in the marketplace,”
The Memphis distribution center joins other IPS Packaging centers operating in Charlotte and High Point N.C. as well as the corporate office in Fountain Inn, S.C. “It’s all about customers, the products that we carry and the way we deliver those products to customers,” stated Schuliger. “We’ll continue to hire salespeople, add new products and innovative services, and expand our value proposition.”
