Botox was FDA approved for cosmetic purposes in 2002. It causes minimal to no discomfort, and injections can be performed quickly, with no downtime and extremely few complications.
Dr. Bukhari said another popular use of Botox is to create the effect of a non-surgical lateral brow lift, which can help raise the outside of the eyebrow and have a more "open" look for patients' eyes.
Dr. Bukhari added that some of his patients in Dallas also seek Botox for the condition hyperhidrosis, also known as excessive sweating, for areas such as the armpits, palms of the hands, and soles of the feet.
The effects of Botox last for approximately 3 months and can increase with repeated injections.
Dr. Bukhari also is experienced at injecting Reloxin (also known as Dysport), which is similar to Botox.
