Hair is used in the “booms” that surround the oil spill and soak it up. Another hair stylist Phil McCrory in Alabama shortly after the Exxon Valdez oil spill first conceived this idea.
Dolce, along with Sachi Salon, is sweeping up the hair clippings and saving them to put into the booms. The average salon retains about 1 pound of hair per day according to some estimates but Sachi is expected to deliver much more.
Dolce said, “ After seen the impact these spills can have on our precious wild life it’s absolutely the right thing to do.”
Dolce also explained that, “With the amount of hair Sachi Salon cuts it is our responsibility to take this initiative and put our resources towards this campaign.”
