Meet Chloe Jacobs, heroine of “A Life Revealed” by Suzi Katz, small town girl with a passion for art, early acceptance to her first choice university, a group of trusted best friends, and supportive parents. Everything in her life was going according to her master plan until her parents are suddenly killed in a bizarre accident and Chloe realizes her life wasn’t going according to anyone’s plan but that of the federal witness protection program and a cover-up deeper than she could imagine. Distraught and confused, Chloe begins her search to find the truth about her identity and her family, even when it means risking her own life.
In her debut novel, Katz tells a gripping story of finding one’s identity, experiencing first love, loss, and betrayal. While she claims Chloe’s character is not based on her, Katz does note that she has always been “the little investigative reporter,” looking for information on everything so she relates to Chloe’s passionate search. Katz also used her investigative instincts while researching the book, interviewing experts about the federal witness protection or WITSEC program to ensure her character’s experiences held true.
By the end of “A Life Revealed” Katz has revealed an intricate web of characters and action that has left young adult book reviewers and readers asking for more. It is good for them that Katz reports that a sequel is in the works.
