The gigantic Gulf of Mexico oil spill is unprecedented;
This watery expanse of 600,000 square miles features marshes and coral reefs, commercial and recreational fisheries and hundreds of wildlife species, including imperiled birds, whales and sea turtles. Many are in harm's way, as the oil unleashed when the BP offshore rig exploded two weeks ago threatens their food supply and the marshlands where they spawn or build nests.
We can and must do something
We must show the oil industry we can live without them.

We must make a statement to the oil companies and offer our condolences and support to the gulf coast region.
When we make substantial cuts in oil consumption, offshore drilling will cease. We have the power to change things by changing our behavior and buying habits. STOP consuming oil. Use alternative modes of transportation and make a statement. It is critical that we show the oil companies we do not need them and that they must stop destroying the environment around the world. Stop driving gas guzzling vehicles, stop driving as much as possible. We will be dealing with this disaster for decades to come. Spread the news and join in the National No Drive Day on June 1, 2010.
