Rocket Ice Arena Welcomes the Chicago Blackhawks Youth Hockey Camp: August 2nd-August 6th

May 3, 2010 - PRLog -- Naperville, IL- Rocket Ice Arena in Bolingbrook, IL will be home to the Chicago Blackhawks youth hockey camp this summer during the week of August 2nd- August 6th. Rocket Ice Arena will be the only suburban ice rink in Chicago that will be hosting this youth camp. Rocket Ice Arena is located in Bolingbrook, IL right next to Naperville, Woodridge, Romeoville, Plainfield, Joliet, Downers Grove, and Lemont.

The Blackhawks camp schedule will feature two on-ice sessions per day, including daily scrimmages. On-ice sessions that will focus on individual skill development, positional and team play through combination drills, stations and controlled scrimmages. Daily off-ice training sessions, high player to staff ratio, Blackhawks Alumni, Blackhawks players, training staff and others on hand will make sure everyone will have a great time. Each camper will receive their own Blackhawks jersey. There are two age groups for the camp, Group 1 is for players 5-9 years old and Group 2 is for players 10-14 years old. Group 1 has already sold out at Johnny’s Ice House where the Blackhawk players currently practice, so register as soon as possible.

Eddie Olczyk 16 year NHL Veteran, Stanley Cup Champion and former Olympian will be the Head Camp Instructor. Eddie is currently the Blackhawks color commentator for WGN during their televised games. Eddie grew up in Chicago and played for Team Illinois, Niles Minor Hawks and Brother Rice High School.  

Troy Murray a 12 year NHL Veteran (played for the Chicago Blackhawks, Winnipeg Jets, Ottawa Senators, Pittsburgh Penguins and Colorado Avalanche) will also be an instructor at the youth camp. In 1985 he became the first Chicago Blackhawk ever to win the Frank J. Selke Award for the NHL’s top defensive forward. He was also a member of the 1996 Colorado Avalanche team that won the Stanley Cup. Troy is currently a color analyst for WGN on Chicago Blackhawks televised games.

Denis Savard a member of the hockey Hall of Fame and 13 year Blackhawk Alumni will also be a guest instructor at the Chicago Blackhawks youth camp. He was the former Head Coach of the Blackhawks from 2006-2008. His #18 was retired from the Blackhawks organization on March 19th, 1998. He is currently the Ambassador for the Blackhawks.
