The 311 page novel, being released Friday May 14th on Amazon by Captive Audience Books tells the story of a TV soap writer whose life long obsession to win back the great love of his life—an actress on his show, the fictional Harbor Hills, has tragic consequences.
The story opens in 1977 on the dance floor of Studio 54 for Bianca Jagger’s famous thirty-second birthday party attended by everyone from Michael Jackson to Gloria Vanderbilt and her ten year old son, Anderson Cooper, Calvin Klein and Andy Warhol.
Although not a “Miami” novel, there are three chapters set in Miami circa 1980 that according to the author, are actually a prequel to his second book, "Diary of a South Beach “It” Girl" due in 2011 and based on a three part novella that appeared in WET magazine in 2001. The fashion inspired Delusions of Grandeur cover also features Miami model ROBIN LINKE and shot by New York photographer MICHAEL WILLIAMS.

“I don’t profess to be Tolstoy,” says Winthrop, “I write because I love it and to entertain people. I wrote a book I would enjoy escaping with for hours on the beach; a page turner with short chapters, each one leaving you wanting more.”
Winthrop, who was one of the youngest and most successful talent agents in New York in the 1980's and 90's soaked up much of his story while wandering around the sets of the daytime soaps, "Another World," "Guiding Light" and "As The World Turns" when he had clients appearing on those shows. He moved to Miami in 1995 where he went on to become a top public relations and marketing consultant as well as magazine editor and party promoter.
To launch the book in high style, five hundred of Miami’s beautiful people will pack the glitzy Vegas like MI-VI nightclub at Gulfstream Park for the red-carpet book release party hosted by iconic nightlife tsar GERRY KELLY and THOM BIERDZ , who plays Phillip Chancellor III on the CBS’s number one rated soap opera, The Young & The Restless.
Bierdz, a friend of the author, is also the accomplished writer of the bestselling "Forgiving Troy" as well as a gifted artist and will be showcasing some of his animal portraits for the benefit of Sabbath Memorial Pet Rescue.
The event is also a benefit for SABBATH MEMORIAL DOG RESCUE, a no kill Miami animal shelter that is the author’s “pet” charity.
