May 3, 2010 - PRLog -- LINDON, UT May 3, 2010 Fonix Speech, Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of Fonix® Corporation OTC BB: FNXC) specializing in embedded speech interfaces for mobile devices, handheld electronic products, video game systems and processors, today, in conjunction with Autodesk , announced its VoiceIn 4.2 speech recognition software in the release of Autodesk Softimage 2011 high-performance 3D modeling, animation, visual effects, rendering, and compositing software. Softimage enables users to tackle the most demanding game, film, and television projects.
“Adding Fonix VoiceIn 4.2 to Softimage provides facial alignment with speech recognition in true voice-sync visual presentation” said Rob Hoffmann, Autodesk Senior Manager Product Marketing “The VoiceIn recognition is sharp, accurate and exact adding a measurable element of reality to the Softimage characters. Fonix VoiceIn 4.2 makes it fast and easy to extract the required phonemes ready for assembly.”

Softimage software enables users to more quickly create custom tools and amazing visual effects through the Interactive Creative Environment (ICE), a node-based visual development platform. ICE is designed to help artists be more creative and efficient, allowing them to explore new creative ideas with greater ease and simplicity. Beyond effects, developers can use this production-proven 3D modeling, animation, rendering, and compositing software for every aspect of the CG (computer graphics) workflow.
“VoicIn’s application with Softimage aligns phonemes with their location in the speech audio using a phonetic engine” said Roger D. Dudley, Fonix CEO. “The technology then interprets text of the utterance to provide the most accurate phonemes and their locations or generates phonetic estimates of free-form speech, depending on the mode of operation. The corresponding phonetic data is used by developers of animation products to more closely match lip, tongue, and facial animations to natural human movements. This is a dynamic use of speech recognition for video, games and movie applications.”

Subsequent to signing the license agreement with Autodesk in July 2009, Fonix has released the voice – lip-sync software in Fonix VoiceSync 1.0.

Fonix VoiceIn 4.2 and Fonix VoiceSync 1.0 is available on Windows 32/64, Linux 32/64, Windows Mobile, Apple iPhone 3.0 and other OS and embedded hardware platforms. VoiceIn 4.2 is available in English, Spanish, French, Italian, German, Japanese and Korean.
