For several years now, Nuneaton & Bedworth Borough Council has been engaged in a major council house modernisation programme, including the installation of new central heating, new kitchens and bathrooms. Between 2003 and 2007 approximately 700 properties received new central heating systems under the Housing Refurbishment Partnering Programme and, to assess the different boilers available, 30 condensing boilers from 8 different manufacturers were installed and monitored on performance and reliability. Ariston scored the highest and was duly selected by Nuneaton & Bedworth Borough Council and their partners Bedworth Heating & Plumbing Ltd.

The Ariston model currently being fitted, at a rate of around three each week, is the CLAS HE 30kW combination boiler. These are being installed in a wide range of properties including houses, flats and bungalows, constructed using a number of differing techniques. Some of boilers are installed in kitchens but this is avoided wherever possible in order not to affect any future upgrades of the property. However, Ariston boilers are designed to be completely adaptable to any location and the wide range of flue pipe accessories offer maximum flexibility.

Ideal for social and private housing contracts, as well as individual installations, Ariston's CLAS HE model is an intelligent, high performance boiler which maximizes energy efficiency via its innovative, energy-saving AUTO function. When the AUTO button is pressed, the boiler automatically selects the ideal temperature for the central heating circuit, gradually increasing the temperature of the system water and eliminating peaks in the flow until the room reaches the desired temperature. Temperature control is therefore achieved smoothly, without turning the boiler on and off, eliminating thermal stress and resulting in higher levels of energy efficiency. The AUTO function is also capable of interaction with a range of remote sensors, a programmable room thermostat or a simple on/off model.

In addition to its energy saving features, the CLAS HE range is simple to understand and operate, offering the user exceptional levels of comfort and, with its COMFORT Function, almost instantaneous domestic hot water as the waiting period is reduced to just 5 seconds. The boiler's elegantly styled fascia incorporates an LCD screen displaying operational status and diagnostic error codes which simplify maintenance by immediately alerting the engineer to any problem. The CLAS HE range features SEDBUK Band A rating, low NOx and a 2 year guarantee as standard. Outputs for combi models range from 24kW to 38kW with System models available from 18kW to 30kW.

Virtually all sizes of CLAS HE boiler are one man lift and simplicity of installation is a design feature. A connection kit and filling loop come as standard and the boilers have a reduced fixing height between pipework and flue. Multiple flueing options are available and a rear piping chassis is an option. For ease of maintenance, the CLAS HE range features standardised components which are completely accessible from the front of the appliance.
