Local and regional Artist, John Faherty wants to make a big splash in the world of publishing

April 30, 2010 - PRLog -- Philadelphia artist John Faherty is well known in the region for his colorful, large scale narrative paintings. He hopes now also to be recognized as an author. Being known for his distinct manner of working, it was then a surprise to discover the new turn his work had taken. In 2008, after being temporarily diverted from oil painting, he began working on what was originally planned as a Sci-Fi graphic novel. While still in it’s preparatory stages, the story line developed quickly into a rough working novel. About this transition he would later say, “The outline to my surprise began to turn into something else entirely. It seemed to develop, into a novel quite naturally.” Two years later he announced the publication of his first novel.

This first novel “Children of A Dark Age” is available now online through Create space and Amazon Books.  This sweeping Sci- Fi epic tells the story of how in a world devastated by the plagues of Man, an ancient wanderer comes to fulfill its destiny and in doing so sets off a chain of events that could lead to Mans final chapter on Earth. This visitor, embodied as a probe from a long dead civilization having visited upon the Earth, now sets by subtle genetic manipulation to tinker with the natural course of evolution. This is achieved by the use of a microscopic symbiotic life form, to. This tinkering beyond its intended purpose has unforeseen consequences not only to biology but to the earthly technology based upon it. These set of circumstances leave the already fragile human population with one last extinction hurdle to pass, domination by a sentient artificial intelligence. Jack Walker has some how changed. He is possessed now by sensitivity to this sentient architecture molecule, which possesses the ability to transfigure matter and bend the form of space and time.

This experience of writing has encouraged him to press on exploring and expressing his perspective on “Important things of little substance” in his regular blog, “Things that aren’t there”
