Integrated Video Security Systems key to arrest of Veterans Memorial’s defacers

April 30, 2010 - PRLog -- Philadelphia’s newly restored Vietnam Veterans Memorial has suffered significant damage from vandals since its dedication November 11, 2009. The surveillance camera system, provided and  installed ,by Integrated Video Security Systems (IVSS), has recorded videos of the vandals consistently, which has led to their subsequent arrests.

Joel Cutler, President of Integrated Video Security Systems, said, “We are constantly moving the camera positions around in order to get more coverage of almost everyone entering this memorial park.”

Terry Williamson, who is President of the Philadelphia Vietnam Veterans Memorial Advisory Fund, said the Fund is raising money for the completion of phase two, “which will open the memorial park to Spruce Street, provide an additional entrance and allow the police and neighbors to see what is going on in the Memorial area.” Mr. Williamson and James Moran, who is the Memorial Custodian, also want to reach others who mean to deface the Memorial and make them aware they will be caught on camera.

Mr. Moran invited those at home to use their computers to help watch over the Memorial. “They can come onto our website and watch who is at the memorial or who is defacing it by visiting “www. PVVM. com.” He additionally welcomes volunteers to help with the policing and encourages them to call him at (267) 973-0625.
