Air-CGI release brand new Lamborghini CGI animation

April 30, 2010 - PRLog -- Teaming up with story board artist Tony Chance, Air-CGI have combined creative flair and technical skill to produce this fantastic animation, created using the latest software.

Known for storyboarding successful movies such as as Mission Impossible 2 and American Beauty, Tony created storyboards utilising dynamic and extravagant camera angles to reveal the impressive lines of both the car and cathedral.

Following the completion of the initial concept and designs, modelling and texturing were completed using 3DS Max and then rendered out using Vray. Air-CGI Producer, Nigel Harniman comments: “Vray has always been the primary renderer at Air-CGI due to its ease of use and excellent shader construction. Accompanied by the various passes that can be output from Vray, compositing was simple. This greatly saved on render time, as in some cases, one render with all the passes, was all that was required.”

For rendering, GI engines of Irradiance map were used for primary bounces and light cache for secondary. After extensive testing, Adaptive Subdivision was selected to ensure a smooth and cleaner look, as despite being quick, the dmc sampler would have produced too much noise.

Each individual scene was saved out as 24bit tga's, with a render output of 1280 by 720 (720p). Each render accompanied by its passes, was then brought into adobe aftereffects. Post is always crucial to any image or animation, and using AE's composting features Air-CGI were able to bring the animation together. For final effects, Optical flares were used for the car headlights to create further realism to the final animation. Finally, Adobe Premiere was applied to add sound and edit the final sequence.

This latest animation released provides the perfect example of the high quality, realistic and innovative CGI material being Air-CGI can create.
