The opening ceremony of China’s biggest cartoon festival was held in Hangzhou of Zhejiang Province in the evening of April 28. Wang Zhizhen, vice-chairman of CPPCC National Committee, attended the opening ceremony.
The performances of opening ceremony were comprised of five parts including “Prelude”, “Dream Heaven”, “Creative City”, “China Cartoon” as well as “Epilogue”
The first China Cartoon and Animation Festival was held in 2005. In 2006, SARFT (The State Administration of Radio and Television) made decision to hold the annual festival in Hangzhou (http://www.chinatouronline.com/
It is reported that more than 300 animation firms from over 20 countries and regions participate in the festival. The event also attracts Dreamworks Animation, Japan's SHUEISHA, the world’s biggest cartoon publisher and production team of “Avatar”. In addition, Taiwan Animation and Comic Creative Association and Macao Economic Services Bureau have sent delegation to join this festival.
“We hope that the festival will provide a platform for the international exchanges and promote the development of home-made cartoon.” said Jing Delong, “The festival will help China to produce its own animation master.”
